Dhaka – A pro-BNP journalist arrested over vandalism charges was released on bail from jail on Wednesday, party sources and jail officials said.
Shaukat Mahmud, an adviser to Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zai, came out of Kashimpur high-security jail after necessary papers reached to the prison authorities, official Proshanto Kumar Bonik said.
Mahmud was arrested on August 18, 2015 after he was accused in a total of 31 case related to vandalism during anti-government actions.
The high court on June 14 granted him bail for six month. He was initially put in Dhaka Central Jail and later was shifted to Kashimpur Central jail-2.
