Dhaka – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured that the killers of counter-terrorism officer’s wife will be brought to book soon.
Hasina, now on the fag-end of her five-day visit to Saudi Arab, came up with the assurance while exchanging views with Bangladeshi expatriates in the kingdom.
“This is a heinous act. It must be regretted that the innocent wife of a police officer was murdered,” said Hasina adding that the perpetrators must be taken into task.
She said her government will never tolerate terrorism.
“Those who are carrying out such acts will have to face trial and punishment,” Hasina told the expatriate Bangladeshis at Madina Hiltan hotel.
Unidentified assailants on Sunday hacked and shot dead Mahmuda Akhter Mitu, the wife of superintendent of police in south-eastern district of Chittagong Babul Akhter, when she was on her way to drop her son to school.
Hasina hinted at Bangladesh Nationalist Party, an opposition outside parliament, saying those who earlier were involved in arson attacks on buses, trucks, launches to kill innocent people might be involved in the covert killings.
“I could say it plainly that those who are behind the murder must be brought to justice and not escaped from it anyway,” she talked about the attacks in Chittagong.
She remained that Bangladesh joined the alliance against terrorism and militancy as the country stood firm and uncompromising stance against it.
